Sweet Treat

On Sunday after church we stopped by Whole Foods to pick up some snacks for David. We then headed home and packed a picnic. After changing clothes and packing our stroller we walked down our street for a lunch in the park. David had many options to choose from... what he spent most of his time on at lunch was his "Oreo." Really it was the organic Whole Foods brand, but he does not know. He has acquired a taste for chocolate... just like his Mommy.

Lost and Found

Angie was in David's room rifling through his dresser choosing his clothes for the week. On days she works she tries to have everything planned so that the evenings run fairly smooth. On this night David had joined Angie in his room. He lost interest in her task and went into his closet. Angie could hear him, but was not tuned in to his activity until she heard "Uh-Oh!" As she dashed to the closet and did a quick scan at first she did not see David. A quick second glance and she saw him, under her hanging maternity clothes, in the back of his closet, next to the boxes of clothes he has outgrown, in his baby swing. Yes, he climbed over his jump-a-roo and infant car seat to grab a seat in the swing. Why he said Uh-Oh you ask?; one of his pacifiers dropped to the ground.
What is a mom to do when she sees this? Grab her camera and then help her baby out of the swing!:)

Best Daddy in the World

This morning Greg let me take my time upstairs getting ready and went downstairs with David. As I walked down to get David's breakfast going I ran into this...

Greg squished himself into a tiny chair at David's table and they were sharing a muffin for breakfast in hopes that this would entice our little guy to eat. David had milk and Daddy had his iced coffee. David did not partake in the food, but he loves time with his Daddy.

Fun in the City

This morning we began our day with a walk around Town Lake. David loved watching all of the people, bicycles, and dogs. This trail is much busier than our neighborhood trail along Brushy Creek.

After all of our hard work we decided to adopt David's prescribed junk food diet. We headed to South Lamar to the Gourdough's trailer for breakfast.

David read the menu

checked to make sure there was nothing better on the back

and Daddy placed our order

one doughnut topped with cake batter and fudge icing

the next with roasted bananas and cream cheese

After a discussion of this is probably the worst possible thing we could be eating and the baby that needed to be eating it continued to tell us "NO!"the doughnuts went back in the box and we drove over to South Congress for Home Slice Pizza

We all shared a slice of pizza - David gobbled it up. That made for two happy parents!

Little Gardener

As you know David loves to help Greg in the yard. He watches Daddy's every move and then copies it. This night he was taking care of the watering for us!

This job is a little tricky, but can make a baby very happy!

16 Months

Today our sweet baby boy turns 16 months old. He is still a happy little guy. He is talking more each day. He is beginning to test his limits and Mommy and Daddy are really conscious of being consistent. We love spending time with our precious gift of David!

Can you believe this was only a year a go?... David has changed so much in just one short year!

Sunday Fun in the Park

Sunday Greg wanted to take David to watch Cousin Jake play soccer. David was more interested in the playground and walking trail. Cousins Kayla and Krista kept him busy while Daddy watched the game.

Jake's team won and then we headed over to ride the train. Here are David and Daddy listening for the train whistle

Mimi and Grandpa Ed joined us on the train too

Anything to Eat

We are pretty much up for any idea to get David to eat. We feel like we have tried just about everything... here are a few attempts from the last few days. In case you are wondering David gets many different items made for him during most meals in hope that he will eat one of the offerings.
Angie thought David may be more interested in eating if he had a hand in making his dinner. They made pizza together. Angie made the dough and spread the sauce. David topped with veggies and cheese.

We got 4 bites out of this idea

We thought a booster at the table with us instead of a separate high chair may entice out little guy to join us in a bite. He also got an adult fork... 2 bites and then

the meal was thrown on the floor

in a desperate attempt for any food going in at all we opted to let David feed himself on spaghetti night...

more playing than eating occurred, but he loved squishing all of the peas, tomatoes and slinging his baby food veggies

and by the end of most meals we are all a little frazzled!

First Trip to the Beach

Last weekend we drove to Galveston for David's first trip to the beach.
Friday night before we left David UNpacked his suitcase right before bed.

David stepped onto the sand and started running

at first he was not quite sure what to do with dirty hands - we showed him how to wash them in the ocean and he loved that

Angie's family joined us at the beach and we celebrated Grandparent's day

and Grandad's birthday, Aunt Christie made a cake

Grandad got lots of homemade cards

David loved the cake

Greg feeding the seagulls

We had another first at dinner with David sleeping at the table; he has never been tired enough to sleep in public... we may need to visit the beach more often. We enjoyed a great meal at Fisherman's Wharf - thanks Grandad and Gram

After dinner we walked to the Strand and David got to ride on a pony at the ice cream shop while waiting for his chocolate shake. He slept through dinner, but made it for dessert

the next morning we headed back to the beach for more fun before driving back to Austin

We had a wonderful first trip to the beach
