Tonight at bedtime as Angie began to rock David he said, " That whale ate Jonah all gone when he got out of the boat." Love that he is learning and putting details together to recall stories! Angie is missing David much this week as this is her first full week back, but David is loving the week with his cousins!
Cousins reading their Bibles together completely unprompted. Big Cousin Luke even knew to make sure they were on the same story. Sweet Boys!
David wore his 2012 London Olympic shirt from Mimi all day yesterday waiting for the opening ceremonies. We turned on the tv last night and it was never exciting enough to take David's attention away from his new trash truck from Grandpa Ed. Picking up trash was much more exciting than the dancing and music of the Olympics...
We have grown to know most of our neighbors on our new street. We enjoy that most everyone spends their evenings outside. David is still the youngest on the street, just as he was in our previous house, but he has made many friends. Of course the girls give him a little more attention than the boys, but they all play well together.
Alex and Suzie have been coming over this week... it is a little like brother and sisters; he loves their attention, but sometimes it can be a little much!
We made a trip to Kiddie Acres Sunday afternoon. We think David is the perfect age to enjoy all of the rides. He was able to ride everything for the first time. He also rode by himself. He talked with the workers telling them his favorite rides, ponies and colors. He would finish a ride and say, "Thank you worker." Just as we were leaving David said, " Just a minute, I will be right back. I have to go ask the workers for more tickets." David does not quite understand that those tickets are worth money. Another fun family afternoon!
Riding with no hands...
First time in a boat, David has been pretending at home that our bed is a boat and drives us all around. He was thrilled to drive a "real" boat!
He chose an orange Jeep, Jeep's are his favorite type of 4 wheel vehicle
on a pony all by himself
first time flying the airplane
David chose the red horse and immediately asked the worker, "What's his name?" She looked puzzled and made up, Big Red.
no hands on the train
We bought David and old fashioned snow cone, he ordered it himself saying, "A purple snow cone, please."
Mommy was really there too:)
On the way home we asked David to wash his hands, he thought it was funny to wash his head and shirt.
Today David turns 26 months old.
His new favorite snack is frozen peas. When he wants them he asks us to open the "icer" his term for freezer.
His new favorite sayings, "Let me show ya!" Then he takes us by the hand and walks us to what he wants us to see. He also says,"Did you see it?" or "Watch it" when he does a "trick."
He is very in to imaginative play; we have tigers and alligators all over our house. We have to hide often under the covers or in the closet. He also loves to play restaurant or ice cream shop. However, when we order most of the time he says, " I'm out of ____." the blank is the food that we have ordered. The upside is that everything David sells is 2 dollars.
David chose his clothes for church this morning... he insisted on wearing this shirt, which he wore when he was 10 months old. He said it felt good and so David went to church with a tight shirt and a smile.
This morning at church David made a pillow because on the 7th day God rested.
Here is our little guy with his pillow next to Mommy and Daddy's pillows
