"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
What a promise we were given 800 years before the savior was born... what joy we have in the birth of our Savior. "8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” ~Luke 2:4-12 NIV
It is amazing to think that a baby changed everything! We wish you all a Merry Christmas as we celebrate Jesus; what hope we have in Him!
This year the season has had a bit of magic as we celebrate and teach David about this season.
We also celebrate that our little guy turned 31 months old on Saturday.
As we have moved through these weeks of Advent we have seen David's face full of wonder and delight as he experiences this season for the glory and hope that it represents.
He has spent many nights studying the lights, ornaments, and garland on the Christmas tree.
He has stood at the fire place looking up at the Nativity and talked to Baby Jesus
He awakes each morning looking for his friend Elfie
And finds him doing the funniest things
We have driven through the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights and David says things like, "OOO look at that, its pretty!"
We have baked cookies
Every night as the lights come on outside we hear a sweet little two year old voice say with much excitement, "It's Christmas time!"
David has even had fun this past weekend running through the sprinklers at the end of December celebrating the warm weather... and yes he has his goggles ready
But most of all we have tried to teach him about the promise of Jesus and the hope that He gives us.
And on the third week of Advent out of the blue as we blew out the candles David began singing Happy Birthday to Jesus, maybe he is understanding just a little.
