The week of Thanksgiving we started Monday with a trip to the retirement center where we participate in Serving Hearts. The boys' made placemats with the residents. This is a time that the boys actually look forward to. When Angie shared with Adam that they would be going Sunday night he sais, "Oh Serving Hearts, I love that place. That's where we do crafts. And George lives there. You know like George the monkey." We met George last November and that encounter left our boys very drawn to this sweet man that is loosing his memory. And so we had a great morning with friends young and old and remembered how much we have to be thankful for!
David took this of Adam
There were beautiful trees all over the lobby. The boys asked Angie to take their picture in front of a few.
For 15 years we have been participating with our church to provide 3,000 gifts to the children in Foster Care in the Austin Area. It seems like this year the boys begin to understand what it means to have little.
When we went shopping not one child asked for something that they wanted to buy for themselves. They did point out things they may want for Christmas, but never asked to go home with something on that shopping trip.
David showed empathy when he asked why the boys we chose could not come live with us. He said he was willing to share his Mama and Daddy.
Adam said he was worried about the boys being hungry and asked lots of questions about if they had enough food.
These boys are beginning to see how very blessed we are.
Here they are before church with the packages ready to deliver.
