A Little Attention

Holly loves attention.  And when she doesn't get it she will bark.  And when that doesn't work she will just put herself between what is keeping our attention and her...Monday it was the dishes.

 

Adam

This boy still has the sweetest heart.  This year he has been exposed to some children that have had trauma in their lives.  And because of this their behavior at school is difficult.  One day Adam came home and said, " I told _______ to use his words like Martin Luther King, but he didn't listen."

 

 He enjoys finding a cozy place to read in his classroom... and always has a stuffie with him.

 When Angie comes home from her very early morning runs this little voice greets her in the dark with a "Good Morning Mama" and a hig and sweet tiny kiss.

This little guy has a heart of gold... we are so very lucky that he is ours!

Time Well Spent

The boys are still fortunate to get to go to Greg's parents after school and on school holidays.

In January and February there were full days that they spent with Mimi and Grandpa Ed.

Ed took Holly and the boys to the park in January and the driving range in February.

 Mimi took the boys on a movie date - look at those happy smiles!

 And Aunt Amy was Adam's teacher one day in Explore U... and sent this picture.  It was the first thing Adam told us when he got off of the bus - "Aunt Amy was my teacher today!"

Extended family loving our boys when we are at work is a true blessing.

All Good Things Must Come to An End

Sunday afternoon the boys were invited to a skating birthday party.  They were excited to go.  Angie had so much to accomplish that afternoon after the party.  David took his own skates because it is just easier and he is a good skater.  That way she can really focus on Adam at these busy rink parties.
For the first time Adam was successful using a stabilizer and was getting brave.

 David was his typical confident self - speeding through the rink again and again - impressing the friends and parents that were there.

 Here are Adam and his friend in the beginner corner of the rink and at this point Angie was leaving to go look for David...

She found him being escorted off of the rink by two workers, paper work and an ice pack.  As soon as he saw Angie he burst into historical tears.  So much that Angie thought he was just being dramatic.  She took him over to a party table with everyone gathered around and he just continued screaming that his arm was broken.  Angie told him it wasn't that he needed to take some deep breaths while she tried to get Adam and everyone's shoes.  The hysteria continued other parents looked at David's arm and helped her get Adam from the back of the rink...

We got to the car and on the way home he calmed down and seemed to be better once we were home.  Greg looked at the arm and decided to just brace it.

The next day was David's field trip.  Thankfully Greg was already planning to be the chaperone.  David's arm was swollen that morning so we knew he needed to have an x-ray.  After the field trip Greg was able to get him in to see an orthopedist.  And turns out Greg and David were correct - not just being dramatic - it was broken.

Funny story is that Angie, in second grade, fractured her thumb the day before a field trip... and went the entire field trip with a swollen black thumb.

He sure is a happy camper - even in pain... here is before he saw the doctor with just the brace Greg gave David.

 Greg didn't end up being able to go into work so we made the best of the afternoon  once we were all home...

 family walk -

 Tuesday was picture day.  Adam was feeling a little left out so he too has a cast on for picture day.  When your daddy has a medical bag - it is easy to get a cast at home too... Adam even took a Sharpie to school so his friends could sign his cast too.

 After school Tuesday the family of the birthday girl sent David a treat - warm cookies delivered right after dinner.

Angie was a little in denial/shock that David actually had a broken bone.  Thankful that Greg is an orthopedic specialist.  He knew doctors to see, was able to get in, knew what to do, how to read the x-ray and even knew how to make sure it doesn't get wet in the shower.

Sunday was a day that was for sure unplanned - but could also have been so much worse!

Week in Review

It was a fun and busy week leading up to Valentines Day!

Megan and David made a cake.

 Tuesday night was spirit night for school at a local hamburger place and both puppies had a playdate before hand...

 Adam was able to share good news in class while Angie happened to be there...

David created a kitchen robot complete with oven, freezer, microwave, and refrigerator.  He was really proud of this and it was nice his teacher let him present this - 2 times.  And then he used it as his valentine box.

 We took Holly for a valentine picture on Thursday before Ninja class...

 And Adam wore his knight costume all day - even to library time...

It was a fun week!

Valentines Day 2020

Adam and David did a little decorating with window clings when Gram and Grandad came to visit... thanks Gram for a fun activity.

 Thursday night the boys had fun Grandparent gifts to open right at bedtime! Gram and Grandad sent a bag of goodies for each boy to open!

 

 Mimi and Ed gave the boys new suitcases...

 Friday morning Angie was given cards by the boys... and even though Angie does not drink  much wine... she received a card with wine from David...

 Adam gave Angie a candy heart card with Angie in the middle wearing a pink dress and blue jeans.  He knows her favorite color is pink!

The boys received small treats from us!

 For breakfast Angie usually makes red heart pancakes or heart cinnamon rolls.  This year she was a Chick-Fil-A at 5:30 in the morning getting heart shaped chicken biscuits... Adam wanted to know why the "tradition" of heart red pancakes was not this morning... so much for a fun surprise!

 He did eat his chicken waiting for David to wake up.

 After gifts David was ready for breakfast and super happy about his breakfast!

 Kindergarten celebrates Valentines Day as Elegant Day.  They ask the children to wear nicer clothes.  But this year they happened to also be in the middle of studying fairytales in Reading and Writing.  So, the children could dress up as a prince, knight, princess, dragon, or any character from a fairy tale they had read.
Adam was a "knight in Shining Armor."

 David agreed to wear nicer clothes without any argument!

 Here is the Elegant day parade... Adam's teacher greeted everyone as Sir or Princess, etc... so sweet!

 We love Ms. Warner!

 

 Then it was party time!!

 Adam was on a number hunt - number 1-20 were hidden in the school and the goals is to find al 20 numbers.  Adam loves this game!

 Each classroom is a different activity!

 He loved adopting the dragon and filling out its birth certificate.

 He wore this the rest of the day - even to dinner!

 Time for David's party.  Angie ended up having to run quite a bit of this party because the room mom doesn't like crowds... HE made a "Love Bug."

 Played Bingo and won a prize!

 Had ice cream sundaes and chocolate covered strawberries...

 Then opened valentines...

 HIs friend Greyson made a KISS valentine box with music and lights... It was the hit of third grade!

Saturday morning Angie got up early went on her run and then made things right with Adam making red heart shaped pancakes before a birthday party and dog training for Holly.

We love them so!
