Friends

 

April brought our children's pastor to move on from our church, he started the year David was born... and the boys grew close to him over the last decade. One last hug on his last Sunday.

One of David's favorite people, who swims with Adam, Lea, had her first communion.

Our neighbors moved to Knoxville - this was the last night in their house - the boys were saying goodbye.

And we had our Canadian neighbors over twice this month for dinner - once for pizza and once for Cinco de Mayo, which is not a celebration in Canada...

Adam's Mad Science Day

Adam's class raised so much money from their fall fundraiser that there was still money for one more fun school based field trip.  A Mad Science team came in and they had a morning of fun experiments with dry ice.

 

Church Clothes

Most of the time Angie lays out the boys' clothes for church - so that they are ironed.  But every once in a while she doesn't have it together.  This Sunday David chose for himself all gray - except one sock.

And Adam chose a very wrinkled white t-shirt, black sweatpants, and a nice blazer.

He was so proud.

 

David - Golfer, Runner, Guitar Player

David has so many fun hobbies - one day Angie came home from grocery shopping and found David in the front yard like this... when she asked what he was doing he responded, "I am golfing today."  He even dressed himself in golf attire, as he called it.

David has also been, on his own, motived to practice his guitar more and more - he is really enjoying knowing more about playing from our neighbor who gives him lessons.

David has also been working hard at track and had his best mile time at a meet this season.  The best part was that Jake and Ed came to watch!

 

Mama and Dude - Church Date

Today Adam and Angie had a Mama and Dude day at church.  It was full of games and competitions... and Adam won. Then we picked up a milkshake for Adam on our way home.  It was a fun afternoon to connect through Adam's love of games.

Vandalism Morning

Sunday afternoon we received an email from David's principal that the school had been broken into over the weekend.  The vandals went to the upstairs science labs and broke all of the eye washing stations which caused flooding in 1/3 of their school.  School on Monday had to be cancelled.

So, David went with Angie to take Adam to school and then used a gift card at Starbucks for breakfast.

His school will be under construction for some time.  There are walls missing, sheetrock has been taken out, every classroom has 2-3 fans while the hallways and common areas have 15-20 fans.  The office took a big hit too.

To top it off STAAR was this week, so all of the testing plans had to be changed last minute.

His principal, counselor, and teachers are truly amazing- positive, flexible, and still present.  With all of the destruction, chaos, and exhaustion - Tuesday morning they were all greeting children as they entered the building, they were waving at families dropping off and had big smiles as they greeted children.

David really is in a great middle school and for that we are thankful.

Jesus' Love in a Plant

Easter Sunday the boys received seeded paper in the shape of hearts, dirt, planters, and a reminder that Jesus' love for us grows.  They were to soak the hearts over night and then plant them to remember Jesus is alive.  The hope that we have in Jesus is because he loved us so much that he died for us... and this is just a daily reminder.

So, we soaked the hearts and planted them this week... lets hope we can see a plant soon.

 

Apprentice Chefs

David has been very in to cooking lately, always asking for ingredients from the store, extra spices on his food, and making his own breakfast.  Sunday night he made a new chicken and pasta recipe for dinner.

And Adam made desserts.  Milkshakes, which he says will be a Sunday tradition...

 

Backyard Fun on a Saturday Night

It has been a while since we spend a night in the backyard.  Saturday Greg grilled, Angie and the boys played, and then we all ate a delicious meal.  We are so ready for summer!

 

Another Track Meet for David

David had another track meet Saturday.  He ram the 3000 and 1500. He PR'd in the 3000, but still wasn't able to place. David is running a division up - so he ran with older kids.  We just tell him that he wants to have someone better he is training with because then it pushes him further.  We are proud of this kid.

 

Easter Sunday

Easter morning began early - Adam was up before 5:00 am and came in to ask if he could hunt eggs every 15 minutes.  Finally at 6:00 we let him wake David up - which was not hard - they were ready for an egg hunt.

For the first time ever the bunny hid the eggs inside because our backyard was too soggy for an egg hunt.

The boys were good about knowing each others favorite candy's and sharing those with each other as they opened their eggs.

After breakfast it was time for church.  We had to get there early as Angie was an usher at one service.

Mimi and Ed met us at church!

The boys were given seeds to germinate and plant to help remember the hope of Jesus because he is alive.

Adam stayed with Angie because she also volunteered in the children's department at another service.

After church we went to Mimi's for a late lunch and egg hunt!

Mimi gave each of the boys new slides for the pool this summer. David got a pair he has been wanting and was so excited.

Adam wanted one more sleep on his blow up mattress - he likes to have sleep overs on it.  He was fast asleep.

Monday morning David wore his new slides to school - he was in a great mood for a Monday morning.

We had the best weekend celebrating the Savior of us all!
