Summer Fun From Day 1

After riding his bike to school David had a first grade party at 10:30.  So, we headed to school to celebrate the last day with David.  It was so very hot, but the children didn't seem to be bothered.

 

 This group of boys loves this custodian!

David truly didn't want this year to end - which you can see in this video.  We wanted to take David home early so celebrate summer, but he didn't want to come.  For weeks he just continued saying, "But mom you don't understand how much I love Mrs. Johnson."  He had a stomach ache the entire weekend anticipating this last day.  His best friend is also moving to Chicago at the end of June.  Taking with him, his Mama, David's kindergarten teacher.  This was a hard day and walking away from his teacher was hard.  So, we got permission to take Harvey with us too and they made the transition out of first grade early together.

As soon as we walked through the door at home these boys began "doing" science.

After lunch we headed to the pool where we met many friends.

 This guy hung in their with all of the big kids, but he also enjoyed a rest now and then... he looks so big here.

 We came home and started a water balloon fight - so much fun for boys!

 And tried to fly a kite - but there wasn't enough wind.

 After dinner David wrote his teacher a note - he really does love her.
Angie will deliver this as she still has two more weeks of work.

Today was a day we will long remember for great teachers, sweet friendships, and so much fun!
