April School Happenings

April is poetry month and this was hanging outside of David's classroom one morning.  Angie loved the self portrait!  And the poem was pretty perfect too!
Adam had a fun Easter celebration at school... although he doesn't like vanilla ice cream so he received a cup of chocolate candy.

David's class hatched chicks.  Here he is writing in his chick journal... he loved this so much!
He made his own at home and kept records each night...

because he and Adam also each created their own incubators.
Here are the new baby chicks... they actually hatched later than anticipated - this was a Saturday so the class missed it.  Because David couldn't have a better first grade teachers she went out and got more eggs and they are doing it again so that the class can see them hatch on a school day... next Monday should be hatching day!
David has also been making books up a storm... this is one he wrote on a Sunday before church about a Sharpie marker.

David has also been writing morning messages and evening messages for us.  This was one of his first and Angie loved how he signed it... you can tell his teacher does this everyday.   Since this he has figured out how to correctly write a signature for a male, but this was too sweet not to save.
Mimi helped David with his culture project for school... they made a London guard.  Mimi's side of the family has decedents from the queen.  David's project is hanging in the mail hallway of his school.

Adam had his teacher's hedgehog come visit when is great because his class is names "Happy Hedgehogs."
And David did a research project on hamsters.  He loved this work so much!  Families were invited to come listen to everyone's work.  There was also a compliment sheet to leave feedback for the researchers... such a fun time at school!

These are our April school days!
