Pajama Day

Adam's teacher had been out for almost 2 weeks.  The night before her return she sent an email sharing that she had heard so many great things about her class while she was away that they would have pajama day.  Smart teacher to return to pajamas on her first day back.

A Weekend With Family - What we Needed

After not having a real family Christmas or seeing any of Angie's family much since Thanksgiving Angie and the boys went to Houston to watch our nephew swim.  He is a freshman in high school that has qualified for Varsity and made it to district on Saturday.  We were so glad we could finally watch Luke swim.

Angie and the boys left about 8:30 Saturday morning...

They got to the Natatorium in time to see Luke before he swam...

Then Grandad and Gram came prepared with the money drop!

The cousins were very happy about this.

There were games of Monopoly.

Lila taught David how to use her bow and arrow... he got a bullseye on his second try. Lila let David try it from a closer distance than she shoots from.

And Luke and Aunt Christie made us funnel cakes.

And we all said good-bye way too quickly.

It was a great visit!

Adam the Athlete

Adam works so hard.  HE really never complains.  He finds fun in everything he does.  His personality and attitude are so much like Greg's 

He goes to swim when it is truly freezing out and still finds joy.

He loves KidStrong - and talks his friend into doing it with him.  Last Thursday they even got awards together.  Adam is the best cheerleader and friend.

 

Many Faces of Holly

Holly has been given about 5 weeks worth of attention.  Angie and the boys have been home the same number of weeks that she gets off during summer break if you add up the time they had winter break and Covid.

Next week will be an adjustment.

 

Virtual Christmas in January

Last Satruday we were to travel to Houston, over the MLK holiday to celebrate Christmas with Angie's family.  That morning David woke up positive with Covid.  Angie's sisters family and parents all got together still to have Christmas.  Angie's family Face Timed opening the gifts we gave them and left over winter break.

Then Sunday morning Angie's sister drove to Chapel Hill and met Angie to give her all of the gifts from Houston.  Luke got us all on one Faetime call and they watched us open our gifts. Too bad, Christie and Luke and Lila are so small in our Christmas picture.

We cannot wait to see everyone soon!! It has been Thanksgiving since we have seen everyone.

1 Year and 9 Months Later - Covid

Well, the boys went back to school on Wednesday January 6th.  Angie had been feeling badly at the beginning of the week.  So, she stayed home.  Her Covid tests were negative.  Cedar counts were high - so it made sense she had a sore throat and headache. Angie returned to work on Thursday, January 7th.

Here is Adam on Friday January 8th... he wore shorts over his pants and thought it was hilarious all day.  Angie saw him after lunch and he had kept them on.

David rode his bike to school with his friend Carter Friday morning... here they are at lunch.  Angie went to check on them because she didn't see them get to school that morning.

Adam's best friend Oliver was home with Covid.  Adam was supposed to have a sleepover with him on Sunday January 2nd, but Adam woke up with a stomach ache that morning so we cancelled.  Turns out Adam was fine, but Oliver ended up with Covid.  We thought we dodged a bullet.

Adam came home from school and played Nintendo with Oliver via FaceTime on his iPad.

Megan came over to play with David.  She had been in quarantine since before Christmas - her whole family had Covid over Christmas.

Friday night Greg came home tired and not feeling great.  He ate a couple of breakfast tacos Angie made and went to bed.

Saturday morning Adam and Greg woke up with fever.

Angie pulled out the Covid tests...

3 positive one negative.  David was feeling good and negative.

So, Greg went to bed with this...

And Angie spent day after day in the kitchen thinking of as many healthy meals she could make.

We would now all be home for 10 days.  Angie went early Monday morning and stood in line at 6:00am in the cold and dark to get another lab test - this time positive.  This is the only way she could stay home with the boys.

Friends dropped of treats...

This became an unhealthy comfort...

We played cards...

Made cookies...

David did some magic tricks - with his new magic set...

David has been watching a show called Nailed It.  So, he wants to try baking a special cake on his own...

There were many many movie nights...

Games of Battleship between Adam and Angie and David and Angie...

And then Adam was able to go back to school.  But 8 days after Greg and Adam and 16 days after Angie - David started running fever.  Another test determined that he was now positive for Covid.

And after school he was still bundled up as he got into the car. He told Angie he wore his coat all day.

And David is finally feeling better too.

Angie has missed more work this year 2022, than in 23 years of teaching.  She took more days off for Covid than she did when Adam was born.

Lets home we are immune until the end of May!
