Mother's Day 2019

This year all Angie wanted was not to clean the house by herself.   When she told Greg the Thursday before Mother's Day his response was, "Well, you don't get to choose your own gift."  This confirmed she would be cleaning alone again on Saturday.  So, Saturday morning she got up to run and came home to all the boys picking up their messes.  Then she headed to HEB and came home to find everyone cleaning.  Angie joined them even cleaning out cabinets and the pantry.  It was a great Saturday.
Sunday morning Greg got up and made everyone French Toast.  David had flowers for Angie and both boys had cards.  David had also made an orange sugar scrub at school which is divine.  He was so proud and had even wrapped it himself.
After breakfast we headed to church, on time!  We had time for our annual church picture, which we missed last year, David started throwing up in the car on the way to church... a Mother's Day we will always remember.  And honestly this is the first Mother's Day in three years that we have not had a sick family member.  It was a great day.
After church we headed to lunch - where there was no wait.
And then we went to the park on the way home to watch the peacocks.
For dinner Greg ordered pizza and we all headed to bed with fun memories...
The rain had stopped and the sun was out.  We were together all day and the house was clean.  And we have family pictures!
A Perfect Mother's Day!
When Angie can no longer hold them at the same time her heart might break just a little!

We got to celebrate Mimi too!

Summer Birthdays

All of Adam's Ready Rockets call is summer birthdays - plus his teacher.  So, his teacher did a whole class birthday celebration on Friday and it was a hit!

This year of memories has gone just too fast!

Mama and Adam Days

Angie and Adam only have one more Adam and Mama day before kindergarten.  And Angie tears up thinking about that... every single time.  She still remembers David Mama days as if they were yesterday - before Adam was even born.  They don't do big things, just enough to make memories of lazy days together.  This day they made a book, rode bikes, and drew pictures while singing Christmas songs wearing a Lego hat.  These preschool days went all too fast with both of our boys!

Last Second Grade Field Trip

Greg attended David's last second grade field trip.  It was the same time as Adam's Mother's Day Tea.  But Greg enjoys these days with David too and has attended a field trip every year with David since Ready Rockets.  How fortunate David is that he has a Daddy that makes time to be a part of school activities too.

The Lucky One

How Lucky I am to be their Mama... it is a gift that I never ever take for granted.  It can feel overwhelming to have two little people that still need me for most everything.  But I feel so very lucky that I get to call these two mine!

Lay your head on me
As I fall asleep
Put your arms around mine
Stay here by my side

We're the lucky ones
Only just begun
Others leave too young
We're the lucky ones

Til' your eyes can't see
I'll be all you need
Put your hand in mine
Stay here by my side

We're the lucky ones
Only just begun
Others leave too young
We're the lucky ones

Promise me no matter (I promise)
How the years change us (eyes don't see)

You're perfectly imperfect
Just like you were meant to be
And all through our life please say you'll be mine

Career Spotlight

When Adam was Star Student one thing he could do was have a family member come to talk about his/her career.  WE didn't find out until 3 days before so Greg's schedule was already full.  So, Angie went to talk about her work... the only thing is that children in school know what she does.  Adam never complained, but wasn't thrilled.  So, we asked if Greg could come on a later date.  So, Adam was able to have 2 parents come to talk about what they do to his class.

You can tell Adam isn't really thrilled with Angie's presentation about kindergarten...
 The kids LOVED Greg's presentation...

School Fun

David participated in "Day of the Children" at his school...

On their own he and his friend Megan had read about Ben Franklin's "Long Arm."  David asked to take rubber bands out to recess and he and Megan made their own version.  Their teacher was so impressed it actually worked.
Both boys had butterflies in their classrooms... here is Adam eating lunch with a bird and their class butterflies.

And here is where they let their butterflies go...
In David's class they stopped math instruction one day because they were actually able to watch a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis.
David had spirit night at Chick-Fil-A... he always loves these and seeing his friends, teachers, and principals at dinner.

He asked the cow to dance with him...
Adam had to go to work with Mama on a Mama Adam day, but she made sure he had fun too... we went to first grade so he could play with the chicks that had just hatched.
