Summer Vacation

Every summer since the boys were born, except last summer because of Covid, Angie's parents have treated us to a Texas vacation with her sister and family too.  This year, they chose Lake LBJ which was so nice and close.  It meant that Greg was able to attend all days and nights - this has never been the case.  Usually he just comes for part of the trip.  We had a great weekend away with cousins and grandparents!  The dogs even got to come because Grandad found a pet friendly house to rent.

The boys got us all vacation ready!

The boys and Holly found the pool right away!

After a yummy Mexican meal from Pesos - the boys favorite - Gram and Grandad brought it catered from home - we went to the Lake behind the house.  Fishing was on the agenda for the night.

We ended the night with a little night swimming - except for Adam - he put himself to bed.

Holly was worn out!
Friday morning Grandad had a boat rented for us.  We were to be there at 10:00, so we had time for a little fun before we needed to be at the dock.
Off to Kayak and Paddle Board...

Holly loved playing with Uncle Brian!
These three are ready to go to the boat!
Ready for a fun day of tubing and swimming on the lake!
Greg and Adam...

Luke and David...

Aunt Christie and Lila...

Lila and Adam...

More David and Luke...

Greg took over from Brian as captain so Brian could help with the anchor...

Angie and Adam...

Then, there was a junior captain...

Just as the boys were going to fish and Adam really wanted to swim it started pouring...

The little crawled into their towels...

And Gram into a bag...
So, the captains made the decision to cut our trip short by an hour and head to land...

We went home and warmed up in the hot tub...
Then of course the sun came out so we told the kids they could swim in the lake by the house since they didn't get to swim from the boat...

Then we headed up to the pool...

The kids loved that they could watch TV from the pool and hot tub.
While they swam Greg and Grandad cooked chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill...

Time to dry off for dinner...
Delicious!
After dinner - more fishing, paddle boards and kayak's...

We ended the night with night swimming!

Saturday morning Grandad had Jet Ski's rented. So, he took Brian, Greg, David and Luke to pick them up and ride them back to the lake house.  He brought Lila and Adam fresh donuts...

Greg and David took the first ride...
Adam and Lila decided to take a kayak and paddle board out... Lila was in the kayak and Adam on the paddle board.
Only Adam didn't know how to paddle on the paddle board - he ended up down and across the lake yelling help.  Another man way down he lake heard him yelling for help.  He helped Adam get to one side and off of the paddle board.  He then carried that paddle board as far as possible before construction of a home caused him not to be able to walk Adam any further.  You can see Grandad and Lila trying to get to Adam in the blue.  Angie was in a kayak paddling to get him... She got Adam, his oar, and paddle board and paddled down the lake toward the house.  Thankfully Aunt Christie helped and took the paddle board about three houses down because it was a lot to take up the lake.

After this adventure Angie declared a break from the lake for lunch...

Then it was Adam's turn for the JetSki with Greg... he got to drive...

then ride...

Then David went on another long ride with Greg...

Aunt Christie and Uncle Brian went for a short ride...

Then Angie went out with Greg...

David drove the JetSki back to the dock after our time was over...
The after noon was spent in the lake...

Our whole little House clan...

Luke taught Adam how to paddle on a paddle board...

Then we headed to the pool...
Grandad played Marco Polo, Sharks and Minnows, and Categories with the Grandkids...

Then we got cleaned up to go to dinner...

We went to Grand Central Café.  This is actually a house that was located in Round Rock that was moved to Kingsland.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed in this house...

Our last night was spent fishing...
Hanging out by the water...

And swimming... Lila was the last one in the pool.
It was a really great vacation!

Little Swimmer

A few weeks ago Adam looked at Angie and said, “I don’t think David is ready for swim team, but I am.” After asking more questions and talking through with Adam what he would need to do for participation on a swim team we found a perfect match. He began training with a swim coach to work on stroke development.

It will be lots of hard work, but he had so much fun and has decided he wants to do this through the school year… as long as he can still do KidStrong too.

Ready to go - he was so excited!
At the pool!
On the ready bench waiting for coach...
Adam was the first one in the pool - by cannon ball!

backstroke was much of Adam's work yesterday.

Working on Freestyle - Coach Jacob coaches from the deck... as Adam splashes away...
Working on floating...
Coach Jacob wants Adam to breathe to the side...
One last backstroke to end the day...
So proud of you Adam!

Clean Teeth

With Covid dentist appointments fell to the bottom of our list… we made it to the orthodontist each month, but the dental protocol was too much… plus we had an insurance change and it just made it harder. But today the boys went back and they both had great checkups and left with nice sparkly white teeth!

Tie-Dye

The Easter bunny brought the boys a tie-dye set to the boys. We finally made shirts last night for our trip to the lake this weekend!  So much fun!

Homemade Ice Cream

The boys and Angie made homemade ice cream yesterday!  It turned out pretty good for an after dinner treat. We want to try a flavor next time... this was just vanilla.

Rainy Pool Day

Monday was a rainy day... but we had plans to have friends over to swim.  Radar said we had until 2:00 before the rain really came so we decided to meet at 11:30.

The boys worked on diving before friends arrived...

At 12:30 there was thunder - we decided to have snacks and wait - but the thunder continued and we all went home for lunch.
