Summer in Winter

It was an 80 degree day in Austin today. It was beautiful outside and we enjoyed the afternoon with friends at the park!

we got a special treat when this drove around the block...

the second time around the block all of the mommies thought for sure they would stop because this sweet entourage was headed their way ; we were all disappointed

David played with Dandelions for the first time; he would knock the petals off before Mommy could even show him how to blow the petals

So Mommy showed Ella, then David wanted to try it

such wonderful friends!

Surprise Treat

Monday afternoon Angie and David decided to make David's favorite cookies - M&M cookies. Angie loves to bake and hopes that David will have an interest in the kitchen one day. This creation in the kitchen caught the most interest from any cooking activity David has shared with Angie up to this point in his life. It was fun for both and turns out David is a great little baker!

David took a little taste of his flour, salt, baking soda mixture, he was spitting for the next 15 seconds - wish a picture of his immediate face had been captured

the fun was not without miscommunication -
when Angie asked David to pour 1/4 cup of sugar into the bowl, he poured it into the sugar spoon...

and when she told David, "Next we put in the eggs." she looked up to find a proud little baker who had added the eggs...

can you see the salt, flour, sugar, baking soda that have found their way on to the kitchen floor?

David was so excited for his cookies

when Mama explained that they still needed to bake we had to have patience she got this face...

but he waited

and we had a delicious afternoon treat ready when the neighbors came over to play

A Day with Mimi

David spent a busy day with Mimi on Tuesday. They started at the park. Then made their way to the fire station. The morning was finished off with a Starbuck's run where David knows the barista and calls her by name. Mommy and Daddy have never met Hannah the barista, but David shares alot of gibberish about her with us. All of the activity with Mimi called for a 3 1/2 hour nap, Mommy was wishing she had gotten a nap today too!

Masterpiece

For Christmas David received finger paints and finger painting supplies from Aunt Christie. She was kind enough to supply us with a drop cloth, which came in very handy. David created his first finger painted art work today. We think the masterpiece will find its place on our refrigerator as soon as the paint dries.
Angie had David's pallet ready when he awoke from his nap. It took him some time to jump right in, he likes to snuggle after his nap, but when he was ready he went in with all 4's.

Strong Like Daddy

Recently Greg, just like David, was told he needed to gain weight by his doctor. So in this house where 2 of the family members are trying to gain weight, this Mama is struggling to loose it. This is because Daddy and David need to find calories where ever possible, many of those calories have come in liquid form lately. Between shakes, protein drinks and this, David's favorite...

we have lots of delicious beverages to choose.
Now if only David and Daddy were gaining those calories instead of Mama.

Best Friends

Today was a BIG day in our house; something Greg has been looking forward to since before David was born. David was to begin soccer this morning. We were up early, David had a great breakfast, and we even had time for a little kicking practice before leaving for the gym. David's best friends Carter and Ella were also in the class. We were there, right on time, but the coach never showed. So we were a little disappointed, but we will get to start next week. For the kids it meant free play. They played on the soccer field...

and at the park...

then the kids became hungry and we headed to Panera Bread for lunch
It turned out to be a great big fun spontaneous Saturday morning; and next Saturday we are on to serious soccer; stay tuned!
