At 3:00 am, David's normal wake time, Angie was up and saw lots of snow on the ground. At 4:00 am when she made her way back to bed she woke Greg up to share the snow news and confirm that the weather prediction had come true. At 5:00 am we received a call from the school district stating that today would be a snow day and to expect to make this day up on May 30th. So, Greg began getting ready for work, Angie snuggled back under the covers, and well David slept for another hour. By 6:30 we were all up, Bella was ready to go out, and we wanted David to explore his first snow fall before Greg left for work. Angie went upstairs to grab a hat and scarf as well as David's sweat shirt and sweat pants. When Angie picked up David to began dressing him in his layers he began to cry. We finally realized he did not recognize Angie. When Greg slipped off Angie's hat David began to giggle. Once he recognized his Mommy David was happy to dress in his long john's, sweats, 3 hoods, shoes and a hat. He has mittens, but Greg wanted to let David feel the snow - so no mittens.
Now it is almost 7:00 am and we are ready for David's first Snow Day!
New Fallen Snow

Bella made her way out first

Then Daddy helps David grab a handful of snow

David is happy for a split second

and then it is too cold
Daddy picks David up and holds him off of the snow, but David can still touch it with his hands

much happier

until David decides it is just too cold
and we go inside to play by the warm fire

and Bella stays out to enjoy the snow

happy snow day!
Great pictures! David is such a cutie-pie!
ReplyDeleteYes, David, snow is kinda bittersweet. Sometimes it is fun to touch and play in and then sometimes it is just plain COLD! Although, Bella seems to think the snow is funtastic! We love the photos - the sad and the happy. Stay warm!!!
