Children were also writing raps, riddles, and poetry about their animals.
Here are a few riddles...
This is David's
On Friday morning when Angie walked David in this was outside of the classroom...
Later his teacher sent this!
All families were invited to the zoo from 1:00 - 1:30... Angie's boss even let he leave a meeting to attend...
They even made their own tickets!
A Zoo Greeter
And a ticket booth! The amount of shared writing, research, shared experience, and collaboration was unreal. An absolute beautiful example of engaged intentional learning!
As you walked into the zoo there was a sign helping to point patrons in the correct direction.
Concessions were even at this zoo! Each habitat was labeled and created completely by students as the class decided what each animal would need as their zoo habitat!
Mimi even brought Adam to the zoo!
Each habitat had plaques with animal facts about the animals in that enclosure of the zoo.
David's teacher said that all of the signs and ideas came from the class... and she just let them go with it!
I thought this was very strong thinking... there are animals that live under water and animals that live on top of the water in this aquarium... THe class collected plastic for this area to work.
There was even a snake buried in the sand back there...
Towards the end of the tour there was also a petting zoo (for the kids)
And one last call for a snack before leaving.
Another kinder class also had a zoo so Angie had to attend... it was too much fun!
They put all of their animals facts on one plaque for each animal enclosure.
Look at that snake in the vines! These kids thought of everything... and their teachers let them think of it and create it!
This is the savannah... which the class strategically placed here because on that screen the live feed of April the giraffe was on... right next to the stuffed ones in the savannah.
The petting zoo in this classroom...

These Little Ones - Simply Magical
That is too cute! They really went all out! My favorite sign was no flash photography:) And they had the April the Giraffe feed on! That's hilarious! My favorite was the ice berg and the fact that they were wearing jackets. Too Cute! I'm sure they had so much fun making those signs.
