Back in June the boys had a lemonade/ Kool-Aid stand to see who could make the most money. They were pretty even and then Adam decided he wanted to give his earnings to the Children's Hospital. Then David decided he wanted to do the same. They raised about $40.00 total and donated that for the hospital to purchase toys for children that had extended stay.
Then, for the month of September they decided they wanted to do another stand for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and raised money for a specific program called Beads of Courage. This program costs the hospital about $7000.00 a year to run and all of the funding was lost because of Covid. So, along with 15v other families we raised $9000.00 for Beads of Courage. For children that have extended hospital stays they earn a bead for each hard thing, every over night stay, every chemo treatment, radiation, surgery, etc... each treatment has a bead. Once the patient is able to leave the hospital they leave with a chord of the courage they had during their stay.

Some of the 5th graders came to help, but really the boys along with David's friend Megan took on the fundraising.

We are proud of their efforts!

What a swell way to turn sour lemons into sweet lemonade for courageous kids!! Love, G&G
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize they donated in Eddie and Jason's names. How very special.
