Moments from September

David's class named themselves the Froggies - Ms. Spencer made the cutest portrait of each child in the way he/she wated to pose.  The next week this classroom was dissolved and all of the children were moved to different classrooms... this has been a really hard move for these children. This is the third year of interrupted learning for every single fifth grade - it is hard to make gains with a fragmented education.
Adam's class celebrated Growing like Beanstalks as Readers.  He made his own Beanstalk with all of the books he read already as a second grader.

When you get to school early there are perks - sometimes it is the rock wall...

When your friend invites you over to play - you get all geared up!
Adam taoght his class what is needed to be a "Good Egg."

David started Kids Club at church and the first month was a Nerf War

Both boys earned Pajama Day at school this month

Adam and his bestie Oliver were showing off the emoji's they made in art...

Adam tried on his friend Luke's football gear.
Resting his Oliver at recess...
Boys at recess - Boys in the wild as Adam's teachers says.
Adam earend a desk pet, which he loves to play with on Fun Friday's. He named it Karl.
Brothers!
They both still dress up!

Adam's class does a huddle on the way out of the door each afternoon!
Adam made his own cozy reading corner...
The boys had Orange and Blue day for a fundraiser at school... both of their classes were in the tp winning teams.  David's won over all.
Getting too big!
A friend sent this to Angie - she laughs everyday with Adam's hair...
Reading Buddies!
On a really hard day, after friends hurt his heart, Angie took him for a Slurpie after school... and the silly came right back.
Our little adventurer - becoming more and more brave!
These boys keep life so much fun!

KTEX

David spent 2 weeks on the morning news program at their school.  Week 1 he was the director.  Each morning he made the announcement across the school to turn on the broadcast in each classroom.  Then he directed th3 3 minute news program.
The second week he was in charge of the teleprompter and the transitions from news anchors.  He had such a great time and it was a great reason to get up extra early each morning.

Lemonade Stand

Back in June the boys had a lemonade/ Kool-Aid stand to see who could make the most money.  They were pretty even and then Adam decided he wanted to give his earnings to the Children's Hospital.  Then David decided he wanted to do the same.  They raised about $40.00 total and donated that for the hospital to purchase toys for children that had extended stay.
Then, for the month of September they decided they wanted to do another stand for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and raised money for a specific program called Beads of Courage.  This program costs the hospital about $7000.00 a year to run and all of the funding was lost because of Covid.  So, along with 15v other families we raised $9000.00 for Beads of Courage.  For children that have extended hospital stays they earn a bead for each hard thing, every over night stay, every chemo treatment, radiation, surgery, etc... each treatment has a bead.  Once the patient is able to leave the hospital they leave with a chord of the courage they had during their stay.

Some of the 5th graders came to help, but really the boys along with David's friend Megan took on the fundraising.

We are proud of their efforts!

Sweet Treats

WE went to lunch after church last Sunday.  David ordered a pineapple cherry limeade we all shared it though
Adam and Greg had an ice cream date - Adam got 2 scoops of Cookie Dough Ice cream.
WE had visitors - Angie's Aunt and Uncle stopped by for a quick visit one Sunday.
Adam and Angie had an HEB date.  Adam still likes the Buddy Bucks machine - he was so disappointed - he was truly almost the instant winner - look at the arrow.
But we walked outside and the firefighters cheered him up!

David - Frogs, Friends and Holly

Megan and David have been in the hunt to take a frog to school.  They, along with some classmates, have given their class a mascot of a frog.  David emailed his principal asking if he could bring a frog to school.  And he used his own money to purchase meal worms to feed the frog.  They have found two frogs, but none have made it to school.

David joined a group of friends and a mom took them all to the candy shop downtown.  It is a wild time with 4 fifth graders on a sugar high!

David loves Holly so much!
