Texas Book Festival

David has a teacher that is another gem in his growing list of inspiring teachers.  We have been so incredibly fortunate that he has had the best teachers in his life of school.  His teacher this year has given David a love of reading.  We are now beginning to see him choose reading independently instead of tv or playing.
This year at the Texas Book Festival he had the honor of introducing an author.  This is the 10th year that Mrs. Johnson has applied to have her class introduce an author.  And her class was given the honor this year.
David was nervous until he met Liz Scanlon.  And then he was excited.  This was such a special memory.  Mimi and Ed came with us.  Aunt Amy met us there.  And our neighbors came to watch David too.  Such an honor for David... and he did so well.  He spoke clearly and slowly.  Ms. Scanlon was very impressed with the children that introduced her.
The Texas Book Festival takes place in front of the capital on Congress ave.
David was choosing to read his new book.

  2. This is a tremendous honor. It is sad more students/parents did not take advantage of such a door opener of the richness of books by meeting an author in person! We are proud of you David!
