Baylor Mayborn Museum

Saturday we drove to Waco after stroller strides to visit the Mayborn Museum at Baylor.  We have heard so many wonderful things about this children's museum since David was a toddler and we finally made the time to go.  We all loved it and of course the boys did not want to leave.
The first thing was a big train exhibit... the boys followed the trains around and around...

Then we found our way into the living creatures exhibit...

These were hissing cockroaches and Angie couldn't even get close... the boys loved watching them.
 Old typewriters...
 A Switchboard

And modern news equipment taught us how far technology has come.

 There were fossils

And a replica of the Mammoth dig site we visited a few months ago that is in Waco.

We then learned about the native americans

Which brought us to Pioneer Days.  They have a village outside that truly is like walking into Little House on the Prairie... Boys!  On our way to the village.

 We say a doctors buggy...
 A Hearse...
 And an ambulance
 Here is the cook's house
 The family home...
 A larger family home...
 A barn...
The boys loved looking at how to make horseshoes...
 The school house -
 Ringing the school bell...

 Adam loved being the teacher!
This was just like Little House on the Prairie... jars of candy sticks, bags of potatoes, tools, nails, screws all housed in little drawers.  We enjoyed this a lot.

The church!

 The Pastor
 The Congeration
 Now Switch...
Back inside we made it to the cowboys era...,
These statues reminded Angie of one her grandmother had.  David loved looking at all of these.

There was a Ninja Turtle Exhibit that opened that day... the boys didn't love it as much as everything else the museum offered.

Then up stairs to more cowboy tools...

 They both loved this wagon...

Adam cooked up some delicious eggs.
There was this coffee grinder that reminded Angie of one her grandmother had in her kitchen when Angie was little... she wishes she had these things now.
 Next up Simple Machines...

Of Course Daddy can make this even more fun!

More Native American  experiences... David said this was his favorite!

Light and Sounds were up next...
A Digital Harp...

 This was a hologram...

 He loved the instruments...

And Adam's favorite the water room...

We highly recommend this museum... it is not expensive and so much fun!

  1. Wow! That is a wonderful place. We definatly need to visit. (When it gets warmer.) I would guess a lot of those things Mammom had are in a storage locker of Aunt Deanna's.
